What it is
Some women have excess skin that covers the clitoris. This excess tissue is defined as an overhanging clitoral hood and can be caused by a few things such childbirth or aging. It can be uncomfortable during sexual activity and reduce sensitivity. Clitoral hoodectomy resolves these issues by removing the excess skin that surrounds the clitoral node, improving not only the vulva’s appearance but its sensitivity during intercourse.
Clitoral Hoodectomy is a great option for:
Improving the appearance of the vulva
Enhancing clitoral stimulation
Reducing labia size
Options
Clitoral Hoodectomy is normally performed in combination with other surgeries such as Labiaplasty or Mommy Makeovers to offer greater results.
Approximate duration of surgery:
1 hour
Anesthesia
Clitoral hoodectomy is best performed under general anesthesia. This surgery can, however, be performed under local anesthesia with sedation. It is best to consult with Dr Rizis in order to establish the best technique for your surgery.
Post-Op Care
Clitoral Hoodectomy is a day surgery. You can therefore return home the night of your surgery and for the remainder of your recovery. Dr Rizis will see you within the first 5 to 7 days to assess your healing. Recovery continues for a few weeks until the swelling has significantly subsided. Most patients resume normal activities such as work, driving, showering and exercise within the first 7 to 10 days.
Potential Risks & Complications
Although unlikely, all surgical procedures pose potential health risks. During the pre-operative consultation, Dr Rizis will go over all possible risks and complications as well as pertinent procedure information.
