What it is
Aging, trauma and the continuous use of heavy earrings all contribute to stretched out or torn earlobes that some patients may find unattractive. Lobuloplasty, more commonly known as earlobe surgery, can correct all of these issues and restore a normal, symmetrical look to the earlobes.
Lobuloplasty can correct:
Excessively long earlobes caused by aging or heavy earrings
Torn or lacerated earlobes
Stretched our earlobes caused by body piercings
Options
Lobuloplasty is often performed alone. However, it can also be combined with other surgeries such as facelifts.
Approximate duration of surgery
30 minutes
Anesthesia
Lobuloplasty is performed with the injection of a local anesthetic.
Post-Op Care
Lobuloplasty is a day surgery. You can therefore return home immediately after your surgery. Dr Rizis will see you within the first 5 to 7 days to remove sutures and bandages as well as to assess your scars. Recovery continues for a few days until the swelling has significantly subsided. Most patients resume normal activities within 24 hours.
Potential Risks & Complications
Although unlikely, all surgical procedures pose potential health risks. During the pre-operative consultation, Dr Rizis will go over all possible risks and complications as well as pertinent procedure information.
