What it is
The nose is one of the most important features of the face. Some patients are not happy with the way it looks compared to the rest of their face. Septorhinoplasty, more commonly known as a nose job, is a great option to correct defects such as the size, shape, asymmetry and angle of the nose. Incisions for septorhinoplasties are usually hidden inside the nose and between the nostrils.
Septorhinoplasty can help:
Reduce the size of the nose to restore balance on the face
Reduce or remove bumps or depressions
Reduce the size of nostrils and/or correct their shape
Improve the nose’s symmetry
Options
Septorhinoplasties are most commonly performed on their own but on rare occasions can be combined with other surgeries.
Approximate duration of surgery
3 hours
Anesthesia
Nose jobs can be performed under local anesthesia with sedation but are usually performed under general anesthesia. It is best to consult with Dr Rizis in order to establish the best technique for your surgery.
Post-Op Care
Septorhinoplasty is a day surgery. You will therefore be home on the first night and for the remainder of your recovery. Dr Rizis will see you within the first 5 days to remove sutures and bandages as well as to assess your scars. Recovery continues for a few weeks until the swelling has significantly subsided. Final results take several months to be achieved. Most patients resume normal activities such as work, driving, showering and exercise within the first 7 to 10 days.
Potential Risks & Complications
Although unlikely, all surgical procedures pose potential health risks. During the pre-operative consultation, Dr Rizis will go over all possible risks and complications as well as pertinent procedure information.
